The Geometry of Light

Taken at Chambers Bay Park in Washington, The Geometry of Light, has a strong sense of geometry, repetition, light, and tension between structure and landscape.

A sequence of massive, weathered concrete forms stretches across the landscape, each one echoing the shape of the next. Their angular silhouettes, intersecting diagonals, and repeating vertical supports create a striking geometric rhythm, drawing the eye from the deep shadows of the foreground toward the distant structures. Against the expansive sky, the concrete takes on a sculptural quality, its rough, timeworn surfaces revealing subtle variations in texture and tone.

The low evening sun brings warmth to this otherwise austere setting, illuminating the edges of the concrete in gold while casting long shadows across the dry grass. Beyond the structures, a gentle green hillside offers a quiet contrast to the rigid geometry of the architecture. What remains is a moment of stillness in an unexpected place—a reminder that beauty and quiet can be found in the simplest relationships between line, shape, light, and space.
